Temperature storage conditions make all the difference between pristine blood and wasted supply. Red blood cell units must be stored at 1–6 °C in approved, continuously monitored blood refrigerators.
Temperatures outside this range can damage cells—for example, excessive heat accelerates deterioration, while freezing can cause hemolysis—potentially rendering a unit unsuitable for transfusion pending evaluation.

These refrigerators utilize smart controllers and feature a full array of alarms, LED interior lighting, stainless steel interiors, sliding drawers and probe access ports.
